Hybrid Acoustic Panels

The Next Generation of
Acoustic Wizardry.

The latest evolution in SoundPly’s legendary pursuit of acoustic excellence, the AP pass-through panel is setting new benchmarks for acoustic performance, durability, and versatility.

With the AP Series, the limitations and weaknesses of traditional pass-through panels have been overcome, creating a stronger, more adaptable panel, capable of being fine-tuned to create custom sound signatures. It’s the next chapter in the SoundPly tradition of continued innovation and improvement.

Exclusively for Acousticians

As a pass-through panel, the AP is one component of a fully customizable acoustic system, consisting of an additional cavity backspace and optional acoustic insulation. The assembly of this system allows for unrivaled acoustic precision and an unprecedented ability to tailor the sound of each environment.

It’s the first and only SoundPly product available exclusively for specification by acousticians or acoustic engineers, reflecting SoundPly’s commitment to the science of acoustics, dynamic sound quality, and acoustic comfort.

Unrivaled Performance

With a .70 – 1.05 NRC performance envelope, the AP achieves the highest NRC of any micro-perforated pass-through panel. Its barely perceptible micro-perforations effectively absorb sound into a patented rock wool core, delivering exceptional sound absorption for a broad range of demanding environments.

While other pass-through panels offer performance between a .45 – .90 NRC, (with most installations achieving no more than a .65 NRC), the AP Series resets expectations, delivering a new generation of pass-through panel that offers exceptional acoustic comfort.

Uncompromising Stability

The AP Series offers the most structural stability of any pass-through panel, with 6 times more core strength than other panels consisting of a particleboard or MDF core. This is because other acoustic pass-through panels gain acoustic performance by sacrificing structural integrity. To absorb sound, their particleboard cores are drilled in intervals, weakening their stability with each hole.

In contrast, the AP requires no compromise to achieve acoustic performance. Its patented SP Core technology provides lasting structural stability without any risk of sagging, warping, expanding, or contracting. Its structural stability opens the door to new possibilities in placement. Unlike other pass-through panels, the AP can be installed on ceilings, as well as walls, with no risk of sagging and no additional reinforcement needed.

Legendary Durability

Traditional pass-through panels are notoriously susceptible to puncture. They consist of thin veneer adhered to a drilled core – a surface so fragile, a pencil could puncture it.

With the AP panel, a 2mm thick, fiberglass reinforced, composite outer ply is thermally fused to the reoriented rockwool core, making it durable, impact-resistant, and impervious to punctures.  Its combination of acoustic performance, versatility, and durability make the AP Series an exciting new addition to the SoundPly collection.

AP SERIES TECHNOLOGIES

MicroPerfection logo 1808 1

The AP Series panels feature MicroPerfection® technology, resulting in the most advanced, effective micro-perforations ever integrated into an acoustic panel. Achieving maximum acoustic performance required engineering a process to precisely manufacture a new type of micro-perforation—one that’s smaller, cleaner, and three times deeper than any currently produced.

A key component of MicroPerfection technology is the panel’s percentage of effective micro-perforations. Over 99.97% of the micro-perforations on SoundPly panels are open and functional— a distinct advantage over the 35-38% of open micro-perforations on other manufacturer’s acoustic panels.

SPCore logo 1808 1

The advanced SPCore technology is responsible for the AP Series panels being 5x stronger, 60% lighter, and over 2x more dimensionally stable than other acoustic panels. The face and back of every AP panel consists of a fiberglass-reinforced sandwich of durable, dimensionally static composite layers.

A combination of pressure and heat fuse the outer layers to the inner core’s structural components, resulting in a uniformly sealed, torsionally rigid, monocoque structure.
